HMS2 (Heavy Melting Steel 2)
HMS2 (Heavy Melting Steel 2)
What It Is: HMS2 is a more inclusive steel scrap category, allowing thinner steel items above 3 mm that may be painted or lightly rusted. Sourced from mid-weight industrial and consumer steel, HMS2 is more accessible than HMS1 but suited for general applications due to its mixed content.
Examples: Car body parts, smaller steel pipes, painted or galvanized fencing, discarded appliances like washing machines and refrigerators, farm equipment, metal furniture, and light industrial machinery. HMS2 scrap may also include construction materials like scaffolding, metal sheet roofing, and light structural pieces that are no longer needed.
Due to its versatility, HMS2 is commonly collected from demolition sites, industrial clearances, and vehicle scrapyards.
How It’s Used: Recycled into lower-grade steel products, HMS2 is used for general construction, automotive parts, fencing, and agriculture. By supplying an affordable steel source, HMS2 supports sustainability in manufacturing and construction industries, especially for non-critical applications.
